About the player
Brian Jephte Bayeye moved to Romania in the summer of 2026, joining FC Botoșani on a two-year deal after leaving Torino. At Torino, the Italian club signed him from Catanzaro for €700,000, but he made only five appearances across two seasons — two in Serie A, three in the Coppa Italia — without ever scoring. For long stretches he was left out of the squad list altogether. His time in Turin also included a publicised clash with Paul Pogba following a derby.
Loan spells took him to Ascoli in Italy, where he played 19 matches, and later to Radnički Niš in Serbia for seven appearances. He returned to Villefranche in 2026 for a further 13 games before the move to Botoșani.
A right-back by trade, also used as a right wing-back, Bayeye has represented the Democratic Republic of Congo at senior level since 2023, earning four caps and featuring at that year's Africa Cup of Nations. He has yet to open his scoring account for club or country, with 96 appearances and no goals to his name.
