About the player
By the time Charlis Ortiz signed for UCV in July 2024, he had already put more than 100 goals into the record books of Venezuela's FUTVE league. He arrived from Metropolitanos, and he was made captain and became a central figure straight away.
The debut season, the Torneo Clausura 2024, gave him goals from the start. The clearest illustration came away to Monagas, where Ortiz scored twice and helped UCV tighten their grip at the top of the standings.
The 2024/25 campaign took him beyond domestic football. UCV played in the Copa Libertadores, and Ortiz was part of the squad for the tie against Brazilian side Corinthians in February 2025. By the early weeks of that year he had made 12 appearances for the club across the season.
He wears the number 21 shirt. His career has been spent within Venezuelan football, and the move to UCV came at a point when the forward was past his mid-thirties.
What the record shows is a player who kept scoring: over a hundred league goals, a captaincy handed to him within weeks of arriving, and a continental campaign in the season that followed.
