About the player
Carlos Eduardo Cantillo Villalobos came through the youth ranks at Junior de Barranquilla, and the academy graduate was handed his senior debut at just sixteen, in February 2020, for Barranquilla FC, a side then tied into Junior's development structure.
The step up brought international recognition early. Cantillo was called into Colombia's under-20 squad and took part in the 2021 Revelations Cup, where he scored against Brazil in a tournament that saw Colombia finish third. The following year he was named in the squad for the Maurice Revello Tournament in Toulon. At youth level he has made two appearances for Colombia's under-20 side; he has not been capped by the senior national team.
His path back to Junior came in 2024, when he joined the first team on loan and made ten appearances in Colombia's top division. In the middle of 2026 he moved on to Jaguares de Córdoba, where he now wears the number 19 shirt.
A midfielder by trade, Cantillo's career so far has been built on the age-group stage rather than senior silverware, with his clearest moment in the shirt of Colombia's youth teams coming against Brazil at the Revelations Cup.
