About the player
Cristian Marcelo Álvarez came through the ranks at Boca Juniors and made five appearances for the first team, part of the squad that won the Copa Argentina in the 2011-12 season. What followed was a long stretch away from home: loan spells took him to Universidad de Chile, Everton de Viña del Mar and Palestino, giving him a run of Chilean football before his career moved on to Colombia.
It was there that Álvarez did his most consistent work. At Cúcuta Deportivo he made 38 appearances and scored 12 goals, his heaviest output in front of goal anywhere in his career. He later joined América de Cali, where he made 27 appearances and scored three goals as the club won the Categoría Primera A in the 2019-II tournament. A shorter stint at Deportivo Pasto followed, then a loan to Binacional before he moved to Bolivia to play for Nacional Potosí.
Between the Colombian and Bolivian chapters, Álvarez also had a season back in Argentina with Villa Dálmine.
He is now at Jaguares, where he has continued playing since 2025.
