Charly Villegas made the step up from Alianza Petrolera's youth ranks into the first team in 2024, signing his senior contract in March that year after coming through the club's U20 side. He plays as an attacking midfielder, a role that has him operating in the pockets between the lines rather than sitting deep, and he wears the number 14 shirt in Bogotá's top flight.

His first senior campaign brought limited but productive minutes: in the 2025/2026 Primera A season he featured in six matches for Alianza Petrolera and scored once, a return that hints at an eye for goal from midfield rather than pure creativity. Colombian football has tracked his progress closely enough that his name has since surfaced in connection with a move to Alianza FC in Valledupar, another club in the country's top division, though he remains, for now, a product of the Petrolera academy making his way at senior level.

There is no senior international recognition to speak of yet, and no long list of former clubs beyond the youth side that raised him.
