About the player
Cristopher Josué Arteaga Cheme has spent his early career moving through the lower tiers of Ecuadorian football rather than making an early breakthrough at the top level. Born in Bahía de Caráquez, he came through spells at América de Quito across two separate stints, in 2020–2021 and again from 2023.
He moved to Manta in 2024 as the club competed in Serie B. The team won the second division that year and earned promotion to Ecuador's top flight. He followed that with a move to Vargas Torres in January 2025, staying with the Serie B club for just over a year before leaving as a free agent.
In February 2026, Arteaga joined Técnico Universitario, stepping into Serie A football. He has not been capped by Ecuador's national team, and his career so far has been built on steady movement between clubs rather than a single defining transfer or moment. There have been no major individual honours, no reported injury setbacks, and no controversial exits.
