Mushuc Runa moved to within five points of the top half with a 3-0 victory over Técnico Universitario in the Liga Pro Regular Season on Sunday. The visitors took control early and never looked back, closing out the match at the Estadio Cementos. Técnico sit 14th on 29 points while Mushuc Runa hold ninth place on 38 after 29 games each.
R. Ibarra opened the scoring in the seventh minute, a quiet finish that set the tone for what followed. By then the home side were already reacting, and the mood shifted further when S. Razzeto received a red card in the 22nd minute. Técnico lost their shape after that, and Mushuc Runa took advantage of the extra space.
Ibarra added a second from the penalty spot just before half-time, converting in the 45+2nd minute. The visitors had created two big chances by that stage, and Técnico offered nothing in return. K. Peralta was substituted for Mushuc Runa at the break, while L. Estupinan came on for the hosts.
The third goal came in the 85th minute through C. Angulo, a straightforward finish that ended any lingering hope. Mushuc Runa ran out of games to recover, but they made the result comfortable. Several substitutions followed in the final quarter, including H. Guardia for Técnico and three changes for the visitors in quick succession.
The statistics told the story of a one-sided afternoon. Mushuc Runa held 60 per cent of possession and registered six shots on target compared to four for Técnico. The hosts created zero big chances while the visitors managed two, and Técnico's shot accuracy sat at 36 per cent against 46 per cent for the away side.
The defeat leaves Técnico with little room to manoeuvre in the table. They have won only nine of 29 matches this season and sit six points adrift of ninth place. Mushuc Runa's unbeaten run continues, and they now have an outside chance of climbing into the upper tier before the season closes.
