About the player
Manuel José Hernández Porozo's career includes stints at Ecuadorian football's second tier of clubs and a single foreign detour. The left-sided defender came through the Universidad Católica academy in Quito, where he made his senior debut in 2015, before a 2018 campaign in which the club finished runner-up in Serie B, Ecuador's second division.
The following years saw him move regularly: to América de Quito in 2019, Emelec in 2020, and then Delfín S.C. in 2021, where he appeared in 54 matches and scored twice. A switch to Macará in 2022 was interrupted by a loan to Gualaceo the following year, before a step outside South American football: in August 2023, Macará sent him on loan to Ukraine's Oleksandriya, with an option to buy attached to the deal. He made five appearances there during the 2023/2024 season.
He returned to South America in 2024, first with Paraguay's Libertad, then back in Ecuador with Técnico Universitario, where he made 15 appearances in 2024, including a goal and an assist, followed by 19 more in 2025. Mushuc Runa signed him in January 2026, handing him the number 33 shirt.
Reports on which foot he favours have not agreed, and he has not featured for Ecuador at any level. What stands out instead is the pattern of his career: short stints, frequent loans, and a willingness to move.
