Deyna Cristina Castellanos Naujenis

In 2017 Deyna Castellanos was named on the shortlist for the FIFA The Best Women's Player award — at the time the youngest nominee in the award's history.

The reputation had been built at youth level. Castellanos took the Golden Boot at the 2014 Under-17 World Cup and the Bronze Ball at the 2016 edition. At Florida State between 2016 and 2019 she scored 48 goals in 82 matches, won the NCAA Division I championship in 2018 and was twice named an All-American.

She signed for Atlético Madrid on 2 January 2020 and stayed two and a half years, making 71 appearances in all competitions for 26 goals, 23 of them in 58 league matches. Atlético won the Supercopa de España Femenina in 2020–21, and Castellanos was voted the Iberdrola league's player of the month for December 2020.

A three-year contract with Manchester City followed on 3 June 2022. No trophies.

Bay FC paid City a transfer fee to bring her to the NWSL on 26 January 2024, on a deal worth roughly $1.8m over four years. She played 25 matches, scoring twice and setting up one more.

On 24 January 2025 she joined the Portland Thorns as a free agent after Bay FC bought out her contract, signing through the end of the 2026 season with an option for 2027. By mid-2026 she had made 27 league appearances and scored three goals.

For Venezuela, Castellanos debuted in 2014 and scored her first senior goal against Ecuador in April 2018. She played at the 2018 and 2022 Copa América Femenina, and scored twice in the 2025 CONMEBOL Women's Nations League.
