When Deportivo Cuenca signed David González from Racing Club in January 2026, it was a loan, running only until 31 December 2026.
González is a product of Racing Club's academy in Argentina. He broke into the first team there in 2023, featuring in a handful of matches in the Torneo Betano and the Copa Argentina.
Once in Ecuador, González quickly established himself as a regular starter, wearing the number 49 shirt through the 2026 season. Over the course of the campaign he made 22 appearances in the Liga Pro, scoring twice, and added seven appearances and a goal in the Copa Sudamericana.
