Eddie Guevara

Eddie Guevara has worn the shirts of nine different clubs since his professional debut with Aucas in 2008, across Ecuador that has taken him from Quito to Portoviejo and back again. Before any of that, he came through the youth ranks of Club Nuevo Ecuador in his native Esmeraldas, progressing through the under-14, under-16 and under-18 categories.

After three seasons at Aucas, Guevara moved on to Juventud Independiente de Tabacundo, Rocafuerte and Deportivo Quito, then to Liga de Portoviejo and a first spell at Técnico Universitario. His transfer to Emelec in 2022, reported at around 400,000 dollars, was reported at around 400,000 dollars; he scored twice that season, part of a career total of 13 goals spread across several clubs, including three for Técnico Universitario. A year at Mushuc Runa and a brief second stint at Técnico Universitario followed before he signed for Deportivo Cuenca as a free agent in July 2024, on a one-year deal. He has made 55 appearances for the club across the league, the Ecuadorian Cup and continental competition, including the Copa Sudamericana, without a goal or an assist to his name.

A different kind of incident followed a year later: in a 1-1 draw with Delfín in July 2025, Guevara accused opposing midfielder Nahuel Gallardo of directing racist insults at him and appealed to the referee and the match commissioner on the pitch. No action was taken at the time, and the case was referred to LigaPro's disciplinary committee. Guevara has never been called up by the Ecuador national team.
