About the player
Three years at Chacarita Juniors and not a single appearance for the first team — that stretch, from 2016 to 2019, was a difficult period. Facundo Ferrero moved on to Atlanta and then Sarmiento de Junín, before a loan spell at Guillermo Brown.
He then joined Nueva Chicago. Across the 2024 and 2025 seasons in Primera Nacional he was an ever-present, playing 43 matches with 19 clean sheets in the first year and a further 32 appearances with 13 clean sheets in the second.
Deportivo Cuenca signed him on loan from Nueva Chicago in 2026. In Ecuador's Serie A he has made 25 league starts, conceding 32 goals with six clean sheets, and has also featured in the Copa Sudamericana, keeping four clean sheets from seven appearances.
Earlier, in February 2016, Ferrero was part of the Argentina under-23 squad at the Sait Nagjee Trophy in India, playing all three group matches — against TSV 1860 München II, FC Dnipro Reserves and Shamrock Rovers — as Argentina lost each one and went out in the group stage.
