About the player

Djibril Diaw left Senegal for Belgium's AS Verbroedering Geel. He then moved to Poland with Korona Kielce, where he made 68 appearances and scored four goals.

Angers SCO signed him in 2019, though first-team opportunities proved scarce; he made a single appearance for the senior side and was sent out on loan to Stade Malherbe Caen and their reserve team. A switch to Lithuania's FK Žalgiris in 2021 gave him a fuller run of games, 25 appearances and two goals. His 2022 move to FC Rukh Lviv in Ukraine never translated into first-team football there at all — instead he spent the spell out on loan, first at Arka Gdynia in Poland, then at Stade Lavallois in France, where he found his most productive spell yet: 46 matches and six goals.

That form led to a return to French football proper in 2024, with a contract at Girondins de Bordeaux, before his move to FC Botosani in 2025.

Diaw's international career took shape with Senegal's under-23 side between 2014 and 2016, featuring in 15 matches and scoring once. He was part of the squad that won gold at the 2015 African Games and reached fourth place at the 2015 U23 Africa Cup of Nations. He made his senior Senegal debut in March 2019, starting against Mali.
