Dong Xu

Dong Xu has spent a career quietly moving between Chinese clubs. The left-back began in 2010 with Liaoning Tiger in China League Two before a move to Harbin Yiteng the following year brought his first honour, a China League Two title in 2011. He stayed at Harbin long enough to make his Chinese Super League debut in 2014.

A transfer to Beijing Enterprises Group F.C. in February 2015 kept him in the top flight through 2017, after which he joined Heilongjiang Lava Spring in 2018 for a four-year spell. Since leaving Heilongjiang in 2021, he has moved on a near-annual basis: to Wuhan Yangtze River in April 2022, then to Qingdao Hainiu in February 2023, before his switch to Shenyang Urban.

Across his career he has made 223 appearances and scored seven goals, numbers built up over more than a decade of first-team football rather than through any one standout campaign. He has not been capped by the Chinese national team.

Left-footed and comfortable at left-back, Dong Xu has built a career on availability and durability rather than on a single defining moment, moving through the Chinese league system a year or a few years at a time.
