Érick Andrés Wiemberg Higuera

Some of Colo-Colo's squad turnover after 2024 left the dressing room thinner, but Wiemberg stayed — one of the few players who remained at the club once his contract had run its course, a detail that says more about his standing there than any single match report.

Born in Valdivia, Wiemberg built his career at Deportes Iquique, where he spent five seasons between 2013 and 2018 before Colo-Colo signed him in December 2017 on a four-year deal. The move took him from the north of Chile to the country's biggest club, and he has held down the left side of the defence there ever since.

His appearances have varied season to season. In 2021 he featured nine times in the league. By 2024 his role had grown: 23 league matches, a Supercopa appearance, and involvement in the Copa Libertadores. In 2025 he added eight more league games and two in the Copa Chile, still turning out for a side that has relied on him as a fixture of its back line rather than a rotation option.

Beyond the club game, Wiemberg has been called into the Chile national team, a recognition that followed years of consistent domestic performances rather than a single breakthrough moment. He has also played in continental competition, including the Copa Sudamericana alongside his Libertadores minutes with Colo-Colo.
