Elias Bentancor

Racing Club de Montevideo built its Primera División squad this season with a handful of academy graduates, and Elías Bentancor is one of them. Born in San José, he came through the club's youth ranks and was already playing for Racing's reserve side in 2024 before he was included in the first-team squad list for the 2026 campaign.

Bentancor now wears the number 20 shirt for the senior side. His involvement so far has been limited: across the current league season he has appeared in six matches, totalling 129 minutes on the pitch, without a goal or an assist to his name. He picked up a yellow card during that spell. One of his outings came on 12 July 2026, when Racing faced Peñarol.

There is, for now, little more to the record. No individual honours, no call-ups to Uruguay's youth or senior national teams, and no transfer history beyond his progression through Racing's own structure — the usual path for a player still establishing himself rather than one who has already made his mark. What stands out is simply that he is there: a product of the club's academy who has gone from the reserve team to minutes in the first team within the space of a couple of seasons.

What is on record is a start: academy football, a reserve-team apprenticeship, and a first run of senior minutes in 2026, including a derby against Peñarol.
