Facundo Machado

He came through Nacional's youth academy and signed with the Montevideo club's first team as a free agent in July 2022, staying through the end of 2024 before moving to Racing Club de Montevideo.

At Racing, minutes have not come easily. Through the 2026 Apertura, Machado has mostly watched from the bench, with Federico Varese preferred in goal for recent fixtures, including the meeting with his former club Nacional in August. Soccerway credits him with four league appearances and one in the Copa AUF Uruguay for the year, though it does not specify how many of those were starts.

The clearest moment of his Racing career so far came in the Copa Uruguay, in a round-of-16 tie against Atenas de Tala. Machado kept a clean sheet through normal time, then sent his side through to the next round. He has also featured for Racing in the Copa Sudamericana, including a match against Montevideo Wanderers in March 2025.

His most significant honour arrived earlier, with Uruguay's under-20 side. He was part of the squad that won the 2023 U20 World Cup in Argentina, though he served as backup goalkeeper throughout the tournament and did not play. He was also part of the Uruguay side that finished runner-up at the South American U20 Championship that year. His youth international career runs from the under-17s through to a single appearance at under-23 level in 2023; he has not been called up to the senior national team.
