About the player
Angola's 5–0 win over Namibia in the 2024 COSAFA Cup final brought Eliot Muteba his second cap. He had made his international debut three weeks earlier against Seychelles, playing 45 minutes in a tournament Angola went on to win.
That debut came after Muteba had spent his formative years working through German academy football rather than Angola's own system. The move up to Nürnberg's second team in the Regionalliga Bayern proved the most productive spell of his career so far: over two seasons he scored 12 goals in 50 appearances, finishing as the side's second-top scorer in 2022–23.
A free transfer took him to TSV 1860 München in February 2024, but first-team opportunities in the 3. Liga were limited to ten appearances. Muteba was loaned out to FV Illertissen in the Regionalliga Bayern for the second half of the 2024–25 season, scoring once in 12 games. He moved on again in June 2025, signing for FC Würzburger Kickers on a free transfer on his 22nd birthday.
With Würzburger Kickers he added a second honour to his name, winning the Bavarian Cup in 2025–26.
