About the player
Ahead of the 2026 season, Emil Breivik was handed the Molde captaincy, taking over from Magnus Wolff Eikrem. It is a role that arrived at a club he has belonged to for more than a decade: he joined the Molde academy in 2014 from his local side in Gossen.
The path through was not immediate. Breivik played for Molde 2 from 2016, made his senior debut for the first team in 2019, and then spent the second half of that year and all of the 2020 season on loan at Raufoss IL. He returned, and has stayed. In December 2020 he scored in a UEFA Europa League tie against Rapid Wien.
The medals followed with the team: the Eliteserien title in 2022, and the Norwegian Cup in 2021–22 and again in 2023. In August 2023 he received his first senior call-up to the Norway squad, though he has yet to make his debut; he has one cap at under-21 level.
The most serious interruption came in December 2023, when he broke his leg. He was out until March 2024. Two months after returning, in May 2024, he signed a contract extension with Molde running to December 2027.
Interest from abroad has been reported without ever moving him. Turkish clubs — Beşiktaş, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor — were all linked with Breivik in transfer speculation. He remained in Molde, and now wears the armband there.
