About the player
Nine goals in his first ten youth appearances for Liverpool set the tone for how Trent Koné-Doherty arrived in England. He signed from Derry City in July 2022 for a reported £150,000, having joined the academy there in 2019 and taken the Under-13s Player of the Season award in his first year. He made the bench for a League of Ireland game in 2022 but never played a senior match for the club.
At Liverpool the youth record kept building. He was named Player of the Tournament at the 2023 SuperCupNI with the under-18s and scored in the UEFA Youth League, including a brace against Napoli . He made two substitute appearances in senior cup competitions: in the FA Cup fourth round against Plymouth Argyle on 9 February 2025, a 2-1 defeat, and in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace in October 2025.
He came on as a substitute in the Norwegian Cup against Bodø/Glimt on 5 March, and by August 2026 had 13 Eliteserien appearances and two goals.
He was named best player at the 2022 Miljan Miljanić Tournament with the under-16 side.
