A season in the TFF Third League on loan at Isparta 32 Spor is what turned Emir Kaan Gültekin's career. Sent there for the 2020–2021 campaign, he scored 19 goals in 34 appearances and finished as the division's top scorer.
He came out of Erdemli, in Mersin province, through two local youth sides — Erdemli Gençlerbirliği and Erdemli Belediyespor — before joining Mersin İdman Yurdu, where he made his senior debut in 2017. Twenty-seven appearances and two goals followed there. A spell at Tarsus İdman Yurdu brought only nine appearances across nearly two years.
İstanbulspor signed him in August 2020, and after the loan he returned to become club captain. In the 2021–2022 season the club won promotion to the Süper Lig for the first time in 17 years. In total he made 143 appearances for İstanbulspor and scored 28 goals — a run that ended in January 2026, when his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.
On 28 January 2026 he signed for Bursaspor on a deal until 30 June 2029. The fee was not made public. In the 2025–2026 TFF 2. Lig season he has 13 league appearances for the club, with six goals and three assists; the first of those goals came against Kırklarelispor in the 24th week.
