About the player
The shootout against River Plate in the 2022 Supercopa Internacional final gave Talleres their first AFA trophy, and it was their captain who saved a penalty to get them there.
He started at the academy of Deportivo Río Cuarto in the city where he was born, and moved at 14 to Belgrano. There he stalled: named in the first-team squad from 2011 to 2014, he never played an official match, and left as a free agent.
The professional debut came instead at Defensores de Belgrano, in Villa Ramallo, where he spent two seasons in Federal A, Argentina's third division, and made around 50 appearances. That was enough for Talleres, who signed him in January 2016.
What followed was the bulk of his career. Herrera made more than 350 appearances for Talleres, more than any other player in the club's history, and took the captaincy. The one interruption was a loan to Yeni Malatyaspor in Turkey in 2020, worth roughly €222,500; it lasted a matter of months before both sides agreed to tear up the arrangement on 20 December 2020, and he returned to Córdoba.
In October 2018 he was called into the Argentina squad as cover for the injured Franco Armani, for friendlies against Iraq and Brazil. He did not get on the pitch, and has no official caps.
In July 2026 Herrera left Talleres for Bahia in Brazil. The fee was reported at US$500,000, with a contract to the end of 2027.
