About the player
He started out in the Rangers de Talca academy before turning professional at Municipal Mejillones, and the following years took him through San Marcos de Arica, a loan spell at Deportes Linares, and five seasons at Santiago Morning between 2014 and 2019. It was at San Marcos de Arica that he collected the one title on his record, winning the Primera B in the 2013/14 season.
Muñoz moved to Deportes Copiapó in 2019 and stayed until 2021, when he joined Ñublense. In 2024 he left on a short spell at Provincial Ovalle before returning to Santiago Morning, then came back to Ñublense once more. A year later he was at Curico Unido, and again returned to the club he now represents.
His clearest run of form at Ñublense came early. In 2021 he played seven league matches and conceded only once, keeping three clean sheets. The following year he appeared four times without conceding a single goal, again keeping three clean sheets. In 2023 the numbers turned against him: five matches and four goals conceded, with no clean sheets. He has not featured for Ñublense in the league or in either domestic cup competition, with Nicolás Pérez established as the club's first-choice goalkeeper.
Muñoz has never been capped by the Chile national team.
