About the player
When HB Køge sold Isabella Bryld Obaze to FC Rosengård in December 2022, the sum was never disclosed.
The centre-back had arrived in Køge two years earlier, in December 2020, after 27 league matches for KoldingQ in her home city. Her stay in Sweden was shorter than the transfer fee suggested: 10 league appearances, and one goal, scored on 11 November 2023.
Portland Thorns signed her in 2024, and she has stayed. Thirteen matches and 1,017 minutes in her first season became 18 matches and more than 1,800 minutes in 2025. By the early weeks of the 2026 campaign she had played 11 times, starting 10 of them, for 840 minutes. She has neither scored nor assisted for the club.
Obaze, who has Nigerian heritage, came up through the Danish youth system at U-16, U-17, U-19 and U-23 level, and played at the 2019 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship. She made her senior debut for Denmark in 2022 and has 15 caps. Her one international goal came on 25 October 2024, in a friendly against South Africa.
She was named in Denmark's squad for UEFA Women's Euro 2025.
