About the player
Jacob Rinne made his Allsvenskan debut on 30 March 2014, having joined Örebro SK the previous summer while still completing the season on loan back at BK Forward, the club that had signed him as a 16-year-old academy graduate from Laxå IF and given him around 68 appearances over three seasons.
The move that reshaped his career came in 2016, when KAA Gent paid €800,000 for him. He spent a single season in Belgium before moving on to Aalborg BK in the summer of 2017, where he stayed for five years and made 162 league appearances. In 2021, the Danish football community voted him the best goalkeeper in Denmark.
Rinne left Scandinavia in July 2022 for Saudi Arabia's Al-Fateh, playing 60 matches across two seasons before returning north. He signed for Djurgårdens IF as a free agent on 12 August 2024, agreeing a contract that runs to 2028.
At international level, Rinne progressed through Sweden's youth ranks, winning the European U21 Championship with Sweden in 2015 in the Czech Republic, though he did not feature on the pitch during that tournament. He earned three caps for the senior national team between 2016 and 2019, making his debut on 10 January 2016 in a friendly against Finland, coming on as a second-half substitute for Patrik Carlgren. He has yet to concede a goal in a Sweden shirt.
