About the player
James Storer is one of the few professionals to actually be born there. He left home early for the Port Vale academy and, in 2018, for Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he stayed until 2026 without ever making a first-team appearance.
Darlaston Town gave him his first sustained football, and the numbers held up: 27 appearances, 11 clean sheets. Chester followed in January 2025, and there Storer's form carried the club to the National League North play-off final, which they lost. A move to Scotland came next, with Greenock Morton, where he continued to feature regularly through the 2025/26 season, including outings against Ross County and Airdrieonians.
Storer holds dual English and Irish nationality and chose to represent the Republic of Ireland at youth level, winning one cap for the under-19s.
In June 2026, with his Wolves contract at an end, he signed for Plymouth Argyle as a free agent on a two-year deal, joining officially on 1 July. He has yet to make his competitive debut for the club, named among the substitutes for the opening league matches against Exeter City and Stockport County without being called upon.
