About the player
Joaquín Piquerez arrived at Palmeiras from Peñarol in a deal worth around €2.5m.
He came through the academy at Defensor Sporting, where he was handed his first-team debut in 2017 and won the Uruguayan Apertura that same year.
At Palmeiras the honours have piled up: a Copa Libertadores, a Recopa Sudamericana, a Supercopa do Brasil and São Paulo state titles. He was named the best left-back in Brazil, picked up the Bola de Prata twice, and was included in the Brasileirão team of the year and South America's team of the year.
A serious meniscus injury to his left knee in the middle of 2024 needed surgery and kept him out for a large part of that season. Palmeiras extended his contract through to the end of 2030.
