Jostein Maurstad Gundersen

When Jostein Gundersen left Tromsø for Bodø/Glimt in January 2024, the move did not go unnoticed. He had spent ten years at the club, working his way up from IF Fløya through the Tromsø youth ranks before making his senior debut in November 2014, and by the time his contract expired he had made 176 league appearances and scored 14 goals in the shirt. Bodø/Glimt is Tromsø's fiercest rival, and a free transfer between the two clubs was always going to draw attention.

The switch paid off quickly. Gundersen was named Eliteserien Player of the Month in April 2024, and by the end of the season he had a league title with his new club. The championship marked his first major team honour, arriving in his first year away from the club where he had spent the whole of his senior career until then.

International recognition followed later that year. Gundersen made his debut for Norway on 5 June 2024, coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 friendly win over Kosovo, and added a second cap in September in a 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory over Austria. He has yet to score for the national side.

At club level, a reported interest in a 2025-26 Norwegian Cup success attributed to his camp does not hold up: that competition's most recent edition was won by Lillestrøm, and the current season is still running its course. For now, Gundersen's most significant contribution remains the title he won in his debut campaign at Bodø/Glimt.
