About the player
From there his career took an unusual turn east: in February 2016 he joined Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim , where he won the league title, the Malaysia Cup and the Super Cup, and picked up the PFAM Player of the Month award that April.
A switch to Mexico followed in January 2017, when Tijuana signed him. That year he finished as the outstanding player of the Chilean championship, scoring 24 goals and helping the club win the Campeonato Nacional.
In January 2023 Lucero moved to Brazil to sign for Fortaleza . He won the Campeonato Cearense that year, and in 2024 topped the scoring charts in the Copa do Nordeste with six goals as Fortaleza lifted the trophy. He arrived at Universidad de Chile as a free agent in January 2026, returning to the Chilean league where he had already left his mark with Colo-Colo.
Lucero has never represented Argentina at any level, senior or youth. He did attend the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, though only as a spectator.
