Maximiliano Gabriel Guerrero Peña

Maximiliano Guerrero came through Universidad de Chile's own academy. He broke into the first team in 2019, then spent two seasons out on loan at Rangers de Talca before a longer spell away, joining Deportes La Serena in 2021. There he settled into a regular starting role and stayed for three years.

That stretch at La Serena did more to build his reputation than his initial run at Universidad de Chile had. By 2024 he had done enough to be named to the Campeonato season's team of the year, recognition that arrived just before Universidad de Chile brought him back to Santiago that summer.

He won the Copa Chile with the club in 2024, and followed it with the Supercopa de Chile in 2025. In between, he had also collected a silver medal with Chile's under-23 side at the 2023 Pan American Games, a rare international line on a career otherwise built almost entirely on Chilean domestic football.

The arc of his career so far reads as a loop back to where he started: raised in Universidad de Chile's system, tested and toughened through loans and a long spell at La Serena, then reintegrated at a club he now leaves silverware with.
