Orlando Junior Barreto Viera

The transfer that took Junior Barreto to Club Olimpia in December 2022 has spent longer in the courts than most of his matches lasted. Cerro Porteño held a priority option on the defender's rights for 750,000 dollars under an agreement dated July 2022; Olimpia signed him anyway, in a fixed deal worth 450,000 dollars. In April 2024 General Caballero sued Olimpia for that figure, alleging the terms had not been met.

Barreto came through the academy at General Caballero of Juan León Mallorquín and reached the senior side there, playing 49 matches between 2019 and 2022 across the second tier — the División Intermedia in 2019 and 2021 — and the top flight in 2022. He plays as a right-sided centre-back, right-footed.

At Olimpia he became a regular rather than a squad name: 29 appearances in 2023, 30 in 2024, 23 in 2025, for a total of 82 in official competition. Both of his goals came in 2024, the year Olimpia won the Torneo Clausura. Neither of the seasons on either side of it brought a title.

On 14 February 2026 he joined Atlético Goianiense on loan until 31 December 2026, dropping into Brazil's Série B. He has played 22 matches for the club this year — 17 in Série B, three in the Campeonato Goiano and two in the Copa Betano do Brasil — without scoring.

His exact birthplace has not been established in public records, though his early football ties him to Ciudad del Este and the General Caballero district.
