Atlético Goianiense

The club took shape on 2 April 1937 and has never gone dark since, not even when relegation to the state's second tier hit in 2003 and the following years asked harder questions of the badge than any rival ever could. It came back from that the way it has come back from most things: through the Campeonato Goiano, won 18 times, most recently in three straight years from 2022 to 2024.

National silverware has been rarer and later. The Série B title arrived in 2016, the Série C crown twice, in 1990 and 2008. Older still is 1971, when the club lifted the Torneio da Integração Nacional — a competition the club and its own historians still count as a national championship, even where the record books draw a finer line.

Home is the Estádio Antônio Accioly, known locally as the Castelo do Dragão, a name that fits a side that plays in red and black stripes and answers, simply, to Dragão.
