About the player
Kelli Hubly spent the years that mattered most for a defensive career building a case study in longevity: seven seasons at Portland Thorns FC, from 2017 to 2024, across which the club won two NWSL championships, in 2017 and 2022, and added an NWSL Shield in 2021. Those trophies came with her in the back line, part of a defence that held up over a stretch few players in the league can match.
In January 2025 she moved on, signing with the newly formed Bay FC on a two-year deal covering the 2025 and 2026 seasons — a switch from one of the league's established powers to a club still building its identity. She now wears number 11 for Bay FC.
Off the pitch, one detail has followed her career in print: her name is frequently misspelled, rendered as "Habbe" or "Habli" rather than Hubly, a persistent enough mix-up that record-keepers have had to flag it directly.
