About the player
Kevin Méndez built his career on the move, spending short spells across two continents before settling into the Uruguayan first division. Trinidad, in the Flores department, is where the forward's story starts, and Europe is where it first tested itself: a stint with Karpaty Lviv in Ukraine gave him nine appearances in 2018 and 2019, an unusual detour for a player who would spend most of his career closer to home.
Back in Uruguay, Méndez rebuilt his profile at Defensor, appearing 16 times across the 2022-2023 season, before moving on to Peñarol, one of the country's traditional powers. His time there was limited in minutes — four appearances in 2022-2023, six more the following season — but it placed him at a club whose shirt carries weight regardless of playing time. He had also worn Uruguay's colours at youth level, earning two caps for the under-20 side earlier in his career.
In July 2025, Méndez left Peñarol for Unión La Calera in Chile, a transfer valued at 1.50 million euros. It marked another step abroad for a player whose path has rarely stayed in one place for long, now carrying the number 10 shirt at his new club.
