Six minutes into stoppage time against Metropolitanos, Luis Zúñiga struck the goal that rescued a point for Deportivo Táchira.

Zúñiga, born in Caracas, came through the reserve set-up at Deportivo La Guaira, playing in the Liga Futve Promesas in 2022. His route to senior football then took him away from the capital. In 2023 he joined Ureña SC in Venezuela's second division, and in December that year the club took the second-tier title. He spent the first half of 2024 at Cúcuta Deportivo across the border in Colombia.

In August 2024 he signed for Deportivo Táchira on a deal running to July 2027. He was part of the squad in the season that ended with Táchira beating Carabobo in the final of the Liga FUTVE to take an eleventh national championship.

He plays on the right flank and works off his stronger right foot. The move to Táchira placed him at one of the country's most decorated clubs.

Much of his early career remains lightly documented: the precise date of his senior debut has not been established, and there is no record of a call-up to the Venezuelan national team. What is on the record is a first year in San Cristóbal that ended with a championship medal and a stoppage-time goal that kept his side in it.
