About the player
The first thing Once Caldas fans notice about Michael Barrios is his size: at 163cm, he is one of the smallest players in Colombian football, and it has never stopped him operating on the right wing at pace. He began his career at Uniautónoma F.C. in Barranquilla in 2011, staying four years and winning the Categoría Primera B with the club in 2013.
The move that defined his career came in 2015, when he signed for FC Dallas in Major League Soccer. He spent six seasons in Texas, making 211 appearances, scoring 37 goals and setting up 49 more — numbers that made him one of the club's most consistent attacking outlets over that stretch. Dallas won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and the MLS Supporters' Shield in 2016, with Barrios a regular contributor to that side.
From FC Dallas he moved across MLS, joining Colorado Rapids in early 2021 and then Los Angeles Galaxy in August 2023. His stay in Los Angeles was brief. In January 2024 he returned to Colombia on a free transfer to América de Cali, before joining Once Caldas, also on a free.
Barrios wears the number 7 shirt and plays as a right-footed forward.
