Claudio Matías Kranevitter

Claudio Matías Kranevitter left San Martín de Tucumán's youth ranks as a boy after his family ran into financial trouble, and at 14 he joined River Plate's academy, where he spent five years before breaking into the first team in 2011.

His performances at River earned him a €8 million move to Atlético Madrid in August 2015, a fee that reflected how highly the Spanish club rated the young midfielder. A loan to Sevilla followed before Zenit signed him for €8.5 million in 2017. From there his career took him to Monterrey in Mexico, and in December 2022 he returned to River Plate for €1.7 million, closing the loop on the club that had developed him. He later joined Turkish side Fatih Karagümrük as a free agent, before a move to Racing Club.

Kranevitter earned nine caps for the Argentina senior side without scoring, debuting on 4 September 2015 in a 7-0 friendly win over Bolivia. He was part of the squad for the 2016 Copa América, where Argentina reached the final before losing to Chile; he came on as a substitute in that match. Earlier, he represented Argentina's under-20 side, featuring in the 2013 South American Youth Championship qualifying and the 2014 tournament, where the team was eliminated in the group stage.
