Faustino Marcos Alberto Rojo

Rojo came through the youth ranks at Estudiantes and made his first-team debut in 2008, part of the squad that won the Copa Libertadores the following year and added the Argentine championship in 2010. That run of success carried him to Spartak Moscow, and two years later to Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester United signed him from Sporting in August 2014 for around £16 million, and he went on to spend seven years at Old Trafford. His time there brought a run of trophies rather than a settled place in the side: the FA Cup in 2016, the League Cup and Europa League in 2017, and two Community Shields. Injuries and rotation limited his appearances, but he was a fixture in Argentina's squad through the same period, winning 61 caps and scoring three goals between 2011 and 2019.

He was part of the side beaten in the final of the 2014 World Cup, and reached two further finals with Argentina at the Copa América in 2015 and 2016, finishing runner-up both times.

In 2020 he returned to Estudiantes on loan before joining Boca Juniors as a free agent in February 2021. The move to Boca proved his most productive spell for silverware: the Copa Argentina in 2020, the Copa de la Liga Profesional and Supercopa Argentina in 2022, and the domestic league title the same year. He left Boca in 2025 to join Racing Club.
