About the player
The second overall pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft arrived in Portland from a college programme where she had been a goalscorer: 43 goals in 85 matches for the Washington State Cougars, plus 12 assists. In 2019 she was named Pac-12 player of the year and selected as an All-American.
Weaver grew up in the Puget Sound area, coming through the Federal Way Reign and Washington Premier ECNL academies before finishing at Curtis High School in Tacoma in 2016. Four years at Washington State followed, and then the draft.
Her first professional season was the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign: nine matches, one goal. The club took the NWSL Shield and the Challenge Cup in 2021 and the NWSL Championship in 2022 , with the Fall Series title in 2020 and a Women's International Champions Cup win also on the list.
The United States called her up to the senior squad for the first time in November 2021, after time with the under-23s. She played two friendlies against Australia and did not score.
The 2024 season stopped early — seven matches, one goal, then a knee injury. Portland had extended her contract that year through the end of the 2028 season. In early 2025 she was placed on the injured list with damage to the meniscus in her right knee and missed the whole season in rehabilitation.
