Marcelo Morales

Marcelo Morales joined the Universidad de Chile academy at the age of eight and made his professional debut against Universidad de Concepción at 17. He made 110 appearances for the club, scoring twice and adding 16 assists, and was part of the side that beat Ñublense 1-0 to win the Copa Chile in November 2024. He was also named in that season's Chilean Primera División team of the year.

Contract talks over a renewal broke down in late 2024 amid disagreement over a release clause, and in February 2025 Morales moved to New York Red Bulls on a three-year deal with a club option for a fourth. Universidad de Chile kept a 30% sell-on stake in any future transfer. He made his senior international debut for Chile in October 2024, in a World Cup qualifier defeat to Brazil, and has also represented the country at under-20 and under-23 level.

His time in MLS was disrupted by injury. He initially worked his way back from a knee problem with the club's reserve side, New York Red Bulls II, and later dealt with hip issues during the 2025 season. He still found the net, scoring his first MLS Next Pro goal in a 5-2 win over Crown Legacy in June 2025, and set up a goal in a Leagues Cup match against Juárez that August.

In January 2026, Morales returned to Universidad de Chile on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
