Martim Gustavo Watts

Martim Watts came through Nacional's own academy, left it twice — for Porto, then for Padroense — and came back both times. He returned to Funchal in 2021 to break into the first team, and the wait for a debut ran until 13 August 2022, a 2–0 win over Torrense in the Segunda Liga, when he was still 17.

Progress after that was steady rather than sudden. A single first-team appearance followed in 2022/23, then five across all competitions the following season as Nacional secured promotion to the Primeira Liga — Watts featuring in the league, the Taça de Portugal and the Taça da Liga without finding the net. He did not play in the top flight that year, but he kept scoring at the level below it, with three goals in 19 appearances for the club's side in the Liga Revelação.

Nacional brought him back in July 2025 and signed him to a contract running to 2028. His Primeira Liga debut came on 18 August 2025 against Rio Ave, a substitute appearance in the 82nd minute, and later that month he scored his first goal for the club in the Taça de Portugal. Through the early part of 2025/26 he has featured in seven league matches, though mostly from the bench — 53 minutes in total — and has picked up one yellow card.

Watts has been part of Portugal's under-18 setup, called up for training sessions in April 2023, though he has no recorded caps at that level. He plays as an attacking midfielder or winger, right-footed, and wears number 30 for Nacional.
