About the player
Melo is a small town in eastern Uruguay, and it is where Martín Ferreira played. Cerro Largo FC took him through four separate spells stretched across a decade. During one of those spells, in the 2010/11 season, Cerro Largo won the Segunda División title, giving Ferreira an early honour before his career had properly taken shape.
In between his stints at Cerro Largo, Ferreira looked abroad and around the region. He spent a season in Chile with Unión San Felipe, a brief run with Montevideo City Torque, and a spell in Mexico with Potros UAEM, and each time he found his way back to Uruguayan football, eventually via Club Deportivo Maldonado before a free transfer took him to Racing Club de Montevideo in January 2024.
At Racing, Ferreira has been a fixture in the side through the 2024 and 2025 league campaigns, appearing in over thirty matches in each, and has continued that involvement into 2026. A left-footed centre-back, he has also contributed goals rather than assists, scoring in each of his three seasons at the club. He has not been called up to the Uruguay national team.
