Mateusz Skrzypczak

Mateusz Skrzypczak spent most of his development in Lech Poznań's system without breaking through, then had to leave the club. He joined the academy set-up in 2017 and played for Lech Poznań II, with first-team chances scarce — seven Ekstraklasa appearances across three years, interrupted by loan spells at Puszcza Niepołomice and Stomil Olsztyn.

The turning point came in May 2022, when Skrzypczak left Lech for Jagiellonia Białystok. There, he became a regular for the first time, making 82 Ekstraklasa appearances and scoring six goals over three seasons. Jagiellonia won the Polish championship in 2023/24 and the Polish Super Cup in 2024, and the club extended his contract twice, first to 2027 and then to 2027/28. Skrzypczak was named the Ekstraklasa's best defender for the 2024/25 season, the individual recognition that made him one of the league's most sought-after centre-backs.

That form brought him back to Poznań. On 19 June 2025, Lech paid €900,000 to secure his return from Białystok, and Skrzypczak signed a four-year deal running to 2029 — a transfer that closed the loop on a career that began in the same academy. He now wears the number 72 shirt for the first team he once struggled to break into.

His rise also opened the door to full international recognition. Skrzypczak had represented Poland at every youth level from U15 to U20, but it was only on 6 June 2025 that he earned his senior debut, followed by a second cap since.
