Matija Županič

The move that took Matija Županjac into senior football also took him back to where he started. He was born in Šabac, left the town for his football education, and returned to it in 2025 to join FK Mačva Šabac, the club that carries the town's name.

The groundwork was done at Teleoptik. Županjac came through the club's youth system and was playing in its under-19 side when Mačva signed him for the 2025/26 season — a step straight from academy football into a senior squad, taken at an age when many of his contemporaries were still waiting on it. He arrived as a centre-back and was given the number 23 shirt.

What exists of his career so far therefore runs through two clubs and one town. Teleoptik supplied the schooling; Mačva Šabac supplied the first senior registration. He is Serbian, and his name appears in Cyrillic on Serbian team sheets as it does in Latin script elsewhere.

Mačva listed him among their defenders for that first season in the senior game, at the club a short walk from where he was born.
