Rafael Eduardo Acosta Cammarota

Rafael Acosta spent a decade on Cagliari's books without ever making a first-team appearance for the club, a spell that ran from 2008 to 2018 and was filled almost entirely by loan moves across three continents. The most productive of those came in Venezuela, at Mineros de Guayana, where he stayed from 2011 to 2016 and made 137 appearances, scoring 14 goals — by some distance the busiest stretch of his career. Shorter loans took him to Greece with Diagoras, to Spain's Murcia Imperial, and later to Paraguay with Olimpia and Independiente FBC.

When his time at Cagliari ended, Acosta moved into Cypriot football, joining Alki Oroklini in 2018. He made 28 appearances in that first spell and scored twice, then went on to Olympiakos Nicosia before a season in Romania with Politehnica Iași. He returned to Cyprus with Alki Oroklini for a second spell and later joined Omonia Aradippou, where he scored twice in 11 matches. A brief stint followed at Puerto Cabello back in Venezuela before his move to Metropolitanos.

Acosta also represented Venezuela at senior international level, earning 13 caps between 2008 and 2016. He did not score for the national side but picked up two yellow cards over that period.

Now with Metropolitanos FC, Acosta wears number 20 in midfield, bringing a career built largely on loan spells and long stays away from the club that originally signed him.
