About the player
Rayan El Azrak came through Ajax's academy before finishing his youth football at FC Utrecht, and it was Jong FC Utrecht that gave him his senior football education: 50 appearances and five goals in the Eerste Divisie.
The turning point came in August 2023, when he joined US Triestina Calcio 1918 on a free transfer. Two seasons in Serie C produced 54 appearances and five goals, enough football to catch the eye of Shaanxi Union, who took him on loan in February 2025 with an option to buy. He scored once in around a dozen appearances during that loan spell, and on 5 July 2025 the Chinese club exercised the purchase option, turning the move permanent on a contract running to the end of 2026. Chinese outlets including Dongqiudi and Zhibo8 covered the signing.
Born in Amsterdam to Moroccan heritage, El Azrak has not been capped at senior level by either the Netherlands or Morocco. He now plays his football in China League One, wearing the number 10 shirt as an attacking midfielder for Shaanxi Union.
