Reyna René Reyes Stubblefield

Her first professional goal arrived in the 90th minute. On 26 May 2023, against San Diego Wave, Reyna Reyes met a corner with her head to make it 1–1 — and it came in the first match she had played the full 90 minutes as a professional.

Getting that far had taken longer than expected. Portland Thorns took her fifth overall in the 2023 NWSL Draft, but an injury in January delayed both the signing of her contract and her first training sessions with the squad. She eventually put pen to paper on 25 March 2023, on a two-year deal with an option.

She reached the draft with a reputation built at Alabama Crimson Tide, where she played 79 matches between 2019 and 2022 and scored 16 goals with five assists. In her final college season she was named SEC Defender of the Year and selected to the United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American.

In Portland she has become a regular: 79 appearances by the end of 2025, 55 of them as a starter, with four goals and one assist. On 11 October 2024 she delivered the corner that Morgan Weaver turned in against Orlando Pride — the winner in a 2–0 result that handed the league leaders their first defeat of the season. In 2025 she was named to the NWSL Team of the Week in round 21, and in September of that year she extended her contract with the club through 2030.

Reyes represents Mexico, debuting for the senior side in 2021 after passing through the under-17, under-19 and under-20 teams. She played at the Under-17 World Cups in 2016 and 2018, the Under-20 World Cup in 2020, and the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup, where Mexico reached the semi-finals.
