About the player
The armband is the through-line of Ricardo Chipao's career. At Comerciantes FC, the Loreto club, he wore it through their Liga 2 campaigns in 2023 and 2024, and the club announced his renewal as captain ahead of the 2024 season — a decision reported at the time by Futbol Peruano.
He arrived there the long way. Chipao's football was built in the Peruvian lower divisions and the Copa Perú, the amateur competition that feeds the professional game from the bottom up. Caminos FC in 2018, then CD Estudiantil CNI, Caimanes de Lambayeque and Nihue Rao — a run of clubs across the amateur tournament rather than a single youth pathway. At Unión Comercio he moved up from the reserve side into the first team.
The move to Comerciantes FC followed, and with it the responsibility that defined the next stage. When it ended, it ended without a fee: in August 2025 he left as a free agent for Comerciantes Unidos, based in Cutervo. That spell was short. On 1 January 2026 he moved again, once more on a free transfer, this time to UCV Moquegua — also known as Deportivo Moquegua — where he now plays.
Three clubs in roughly eighteen months, none of them involving a transfer fee.
