Sebastian Vargas

Sebastian Vargas made his debut for Nacional Asunción in 2019, having come through the club's own ranks, and has worn the number 29 shirt as a left-footed defender in the years since. His clearest mark on a match came this year: in the 45+3 minute of the first half against Cerro Porteño on 15 February 2026, he scored the goal that gave Nacional Asunción a 2-0 win, ending the opponent's winning run and putting his side top of the Apertura 2026 table.

He has also featured on the continental stage. In March 2024, Vargas came on as a substitute in a Copa Libertadores match against Palestino, a game in which he was involved in an offside incident.

In July 2025, Nacional Asunción sent him out on loan to Deportivo Recoleta. He made 19 appearances there and scored once before returning to Nacional Asunción at the end of December 2025, ahead of the 2026 season.

Vargas has spent the whole of his senior career at Nacional Asunción aside from that loan spell. The club finished seventh in the Clausura 2021, a title won by Cerro Porteño, and his contribution to this year's title push has been most visible through that late strike against the same opponent.
