Thomas Gutiérrez

Thomas Gutiérrez came through the youth ranks in Colombia before crossing to River Plate in Argentina in 2018, where he captained the club's youth side. He signed his first professional contract with River Plate on 26 August 2021, though his path to regular first-team football ran through a series of loans and moves rather than through the Buenos Aires club itself.

He left for Barracas Central in 2021, then spent time at Deportivo Pereira in Colombia before returning to Paraguay with Sportivo Ameliano. A switch to Libertad followed in February 2025, and by July that year he had moved on loan to Nacional Asunción, where he now plays.

Gutiérrez's international story has shifted direction more than once. He represented Colombia at Under-17 level, playing 12 matches for that age group in 2017. Years later, having taken up Venezuelan nationality, he earned his first senior cap for Venezuela in 2025, appearing against the United States.

At Nacional Asunción he wears the number 4 shirt as a defender, a role he has occupied since his days working through the academy system in Colombia and Argentina.
